Snake blood cocktail

Servings: 1

Description

I created this one for a recent Halloween party. But don't worry there is no actual snake blood in it, and it actually tastes pretty good. The ingredients may look disjointed, but trust me they come together in a lovely not too sweet, not too tangy but too-easy-drinking cocktail that is delightful any time of the year.

I use tequila blanco in this recipe, sometimes called plata, because it is the most mild in terms of flavor. If you are a fan of reposado or anejo, feel free to use them. Just know that the cocktail end result will be different and I haven't tested using either of those types of tequilas. Maybe I should...

Also, this recipe can be easily doubled or made in a large batch for a party. Simply multiply the ingredients by number of servings (or change the number of servings in the box), put it all in a pitcher and keep in the fridge. Once it's time to serve, pour about three to four ounces of the cocktail (this is post muddling the berries) in a rocks glass with ice and top with soda water.

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and muddle berries and basil with everything till pretty damn smashed. At this point you can keep it in the fridge till ready to use or finish the drink.

  1. When ready to serve, put ice in a rocks glass and pour about 3.5 to four ounces of the cocktail in each glass. Stir. Top with about 2-3 ounces of soda water and garnish with a basil leaf.

  1. NOTES

This cocktail can easily be scaled up to make a large batch. Simply multiply the ingredients by number of servings in a pitcher, including berries and basil and muddle. Store in the fridge till ready to use. Once ready to serve put ice in rocks glasses and pour in about 3.5 - four ounces of the mix into each glass. Stir. Top with 2-3 ounces of soda water and garnish with a basil leaf.
